Reporting from the wrong angle (Posted: 4/22/2009)
This is a report on a study that found a higher rate of birth defects in children whose fathers underwent vasectomy reversal surgery. The visual presentation that accompanies this health care study is inappropriate. In addition, the news anchors and camera people rapidly lost professional demeanor. Finally, after I tracked down this study, the reporting was incorrect. The rate of birth defects was not the dependent variable- rate of chromosomal abnormalities was, and they were examining the 18th chromosome, not 18 subjects.
